NAPCO is at the forefront of environmental planning and management in Australia's pastoral industry. With a long established reputation for working with the land and not against it, NAPCO develops and implements initiatives to support the long term sustainability of NAPCO properties. NAPCO is committed to the latest environmental standards and code of practice and guidelines for the responsible and sustainable management of land and waters and these are incorporated in all NAPCO property management plans.
Initiatives to achieve environmentally sustainable leadership and development for the benefit of current and future generations, along with NAPCO's commitment to produce products from a clean and green environment for consumers in the domestic and export markets, are a priority. 
NAPCO has lead the way with the development of an Environmental Management System (EMS) for the Australian beef industry, undertaken in collaboration with Meat and Livestock Australia Limited. The project culminated with certification of Wainui Feedlot and Farm to the ISO140001 specifications for environmental management systems in 2003, followed by the backgrounding property, Gordon Downs, in 2004.

NAPCO Property Management Plans
Property Management Plans (PMPs) detail the features of each station. These plans incorporate the environmental management of each property and:
- Set out appropriate management and development strategies for the property
- Inform staff of resource interest areas and potential issues
- Allow management to make properly informed decisions about sustainability, profitability and development
- Assess grazing management, weed status, soil degradation, erosion, timber management and the impacts of feral and native animals
- Identify cultural heritage sites
- Provide a comprehensive starting point to discussions about land management with stakeholders
