Privacy Policy

Introduction

The North Australian Pastoral Company Pty Limited and its subsidiaries (NAPCO) is a privacy conscious organisation and is strongly committed to your right to privacy. The Privacy Statement follows the guidelines set by the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 (Private Sector), effective from 21 December 2001, and is in accordance with the ten National Privacy Principals (NPPs). By submitting identifying data, an individual is agreeing to NAPCO's use of such data as described in this privacy statement. A copy of the policy is available for inspection at the offices of the Company and may be provided by e-mail if specifically required. Personal information is respected and will remain confidential to NAPCO, used only for the purposes for which it is collected. No personal information will be disseminated to third parties, except as lawfully required (ATO, Superannuation, WorkCover, Social Security etc.), without the express written consent of the individual that the information pertains to.

If an individual has any complaint they should forward their complaint to the Chief Executive Officer of NAPCO in writing or verbally, info@napco.com.au

The NAPCO Privacy Policy

Generally, NAPCO only collects identifiable information that is specifically required for normal business purposes. When an individual provides identifiable information to us, we use it solely for the purposes for which it was provided. Our policy is not to share personally identifiable information with third parties, unless required by law, or unless explicitly requested by the individual. We recognise that your information is valuable and we take all reasonable measures to protect your information while it is in our care.

NAPCO's intention is not to seek any sensitive information unless legally required for recruiting or other business related purposes. Sensitive information includes a number of types of data relating to: race or ethnic origin; political opinions; religious or other similar beliefs; trade union membership; physical or mental health; sexual life or criminal record. We suggest that you do not provide sensitive information of this nature. If you do wish to provide sensitive information for any reason, NAPCO accepts your explicit consent to use that information in the ways described in this privacy statement or as described at the point where you choose to disclose this information.

Use of Data

An individual may choose to provide personal information in the following examples:

  • Submit resumes or work history to gain employment
  • Submit individual details to conduct business with N.A.P
  • Submit details to join in e-mail correspondence or conference networking.

Information attained is used only for the intended purpose stated at the time that the information is collected. This data is not shared with other entities for secondary or unrelated purposes, or shared with a third party, unless otherwise disclosed at the point of collection. If there is an instance where such information may be shared, the individual will be asked for permission beforehand.

NAPCO makes every practical effort to avoid excessive or irrelevant collection of data. If an individual believes the site has collected excessive information, we encourage the visitor to contact us at info@napco.com.au to raise any concerns.

Except for consenting mailing list initiatives, where individuals explicitly choose to receive specific NAPCO marketing or other materials, NAPCO will not use personal data collected to facilitate unsolicited marketing activities.

Third Parties

It is NAPCO policy to only disclose information to third parties under the following circumstances:

  • as required by law through subpoena, search warrant or other legal process
  • when explicitly requested to do so by an individual
  • when required to deliver publications or reference materials requested by an individual
  • when required to facilitate conferences or events hosted by a third party.

NAPCO's policy is to disclose information to third parties upon individuals submitting their requests (e.g. when ordering a publication, we display the party fulfilling the order).

NAPCO's Web site does not collect or compile personally identifying information for dissemination or sale to outside parties for consumer marketing purposes, or host mailings on behalf of third parties.

Data Retention

Some of the information we receive is not retained. Contact information about individuals (such as information generated though registration for interest in employment, or site access) will be kept as long as the information is required to completely service the contact request or until a user requests that we delete that information. Mailing list information and e-mails are kept for only the period of time considered reasonable to facilitate the individual's requests. Resumes are disposed of when they are either no longer under consideration, or are considered dated by our Human Resources department. Employment records are retained in confidence following the resignation of an employee, as required by the law.

Choices

As a policy, individuals will not be required to register to gain access to areas of the NAPCO Web site. In certain cases in the future, as our NAPCO Web site expands, we may require visitors to register in order to obtain a user-id and password for authentication and secure access to a transaction or certain business, confidential or proprietary information on the Web site.

Personally identifiable information provided to NAPCO through its Web site will be provided voluntarily by individuals.

Access

Each individual has the right of access to personal data they have submitted to NAPCO

Inquiries about the accuracy of identifying information previously submitted to NAPCO or requests to have outdated information removed, should be directed to: info@napco.com.au NAPCO is committed to providing reasonable and practical access to individuals to allow them the opportunity to identify and correct any inaccuracies. When requested and practical, NAPCO will delete identifying information from current operational systems.

When personally identifiable information is retained, NAPCO assumes responsibility for keeping an accurate record of the information once an individual has submitted and verified the data. NAPCO does not assume responsibility for verifying the ongoing accuracy of the content of personal information. When practically possible, if NAPCO is informed that any personal data collected is no longer accurate, NAPCO will make appropriate corrections based on the updated information provided by the authenticated individual.

Security

NAPCO has implemented generally accepted standards of technology and operational security in order to protect personally identifiable information from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. All NAPCO employees follow a firm wide security policy. Only authorised NAPCO personnel are provided access to personally identifiable information and these employees have agreed to ensure confidentiality of this information.

Children

NAPCO understands the importance of protecting children's privacy especially in an online environment. NAPCO's Web site covered by this privacy statement will not be intentionally designed for or directed at children 13 years of age or younger. It is NAPCO's policy never to knowingly collect or maintain information about anyone under the age of 13.

Modifications

NAPCO reserves the right to modify or amend this Statement at any time. The effective date will be displayed at the beginning of this statement. To keep individuals informed, NAPCO will notify users of changes to our Privacy Statement by prominently identifying the alteration for a period of not less than two weeks on our Web home page when implemented.

The National Privacy Principals (NPPs)

The Privacy Act sets out in Schedule 3, ten NPPs which are legally binding about how organisations must handle personal information. The NPPs cover collection (NPP 1), use and disclosure (NPP 2), data quality (NPP 3), data security (NPP 4) openness (NPP 5), access and correction (NPP 6), identifiers (NPP 7), anonymity (NPP 8), transborder flow of data (NPP 9) and sensitive information (NPP 10).
